Modusnya mereka biasanya minta transfer biaya pengurusan baik lawyer maupun lainnya. Ciri-cirinya mudah biasanya mereka pakai nomor HP seperti +447 dan tidak pernah memberikan nomor tlp rumah atau kantor umumnya seperti +442. Peringatan awas penipuan ini juga dimuat di website KBRI.
